EVOO Values and Goals

Our goal is to promote this miraculous “fruit juice” full of exceptional beneficial nutrients, to attain its deserved position in a balanced and healthy diet.

.Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) has long been revered for its health benefits, rich flavour, and culinary versatility. Unfortunately, the global market for this prized oil has not been immune to fraudulent practices. Fraud in the olive oil industry is a pervasive issue that threatens consumer trust, compromises product quality, and undermines the efforts of honest producers. The Organic Olive Oil we produce at Olea Prilis, has nothing in common mass-produced olive oils, either in taste, smell or nutritive benefits.

about us

About Us

and Tuscany

Our love story with Tuscany goes back to the early 1990’s, when having studied Estate Management in Scotland, I was asked to manage a farm in the Maremma region of Tuscany. Candice, then a professional violinist, co-founded the Accademia Solti that is now internationally renowned, and a significant part of the cultural life of Castiglione della Pescaia, the beautiful seaside village close to our farm.

and Switzerland

Since those early days in Tuscany, we have divided our lives between Italy and Switzerland, a country we both love and respect for many reasons. Our daughters Livia and Tullia were born in Switzerland, and they have always been proud of their “Swiss origins” and their love for the Swiss Alps of the Vaud region where they spent their early childhood. The distribution of our Organic Olive Oil in Switzerland is important for us, and a way of maintaining these ties in this new phase of our lives. For us bringing our Organic Olive Oil to Switzerland feels like “giving back “ the fruit of our efforts to a country that has been generous to us!

About Our Farm

When the opportunity arose to purchase a farm in front of our existing house, we jumped at it! With the farm came 1500 olive trees, and this only added to the excitement. It was a chance to reconnect with the ancient tradition of producing olive oil that has long fascinated us. Alongside winemaking, the cultivation of olives and the extraction of their oil is a precious legacy that was left to us by the Etruscans– a sophisticated and mysterious civilization that dominated central Italy as early as 600BC, and still influences our lives today.

The “Primitivo” olive grove was planted in 2004, and having survived some challenges before our arrival, has now been restored with upmost care and compassion. It comprises of approximately 1,500 trees of the traditional Tuscan varieties: Leccino, Pendolino, Maurino and Frantoio. In the autumn of 2019, we planted a further 2,800 trees choosing a predominance of Leccio del Corno & Maurino. We also planted some Coratina with a splash of Koroneiki! We are an organic farm, and use precision farming technology to ensure the lowest impact while growing and caring for our trees. Our development plans are aimed at building a proprietary mill and further expanding tree surface. Stay tuned…
